Eulogy for Elsje

 Elsje, as well as being a great sister, has also been a great friend and companion during the times we spent together.

Visiting Elsje in the early years after she moved to Sydney was always enjoyable. Despite her busy lifestyle, she took great care to ensure that our stay was an enjoyable one.

Great times were had in Harbord in the early 1970’s and later with both Elsje and Ross at their new home in St Ives. These were always highlights of my visits to Sydney.

Elsje had a vibrant personality and was also strong of character which came to the fore when mum was very sick and in the last stages of her life. Elsje and Ross selflessly took our mother into their home and looked after her in her time of need whilst at the same time still taking care of their own house and family.

During those busy years we very much appreciated Elsje’s abilities in organising family functions, such as our parent’s 50^th wedding anniversary. Like Marianne, I shall also miss her.
